https://www.warner.rochester.edu/newsevents/story/2360Children in the U.S. learn of attributes associated with race at very young ages and can articulate them without experiencing any internal conflict. They do not typically begin internalizing pervasive messages about socially ascribed attributes until late childhood with implications emerging in adolescence. We will explore factors learned from the research that mitigate negative messaging and their positive impact on youth when provided over time.
Presented by Dena Phillips Swanson, Associate Professor in Counseling & Human Development.
