In this presentation, we will discuss practices in K-12 music classes (e.g., repertoire, ensembles, performances, competition). Attendees will examine their previous school music experiences, reflecting on how well their school music experiences aligned with their personal (musical) values, interests, and preferences. Together, we will brainstorm ways to honor traditions of the past while creating a more inclusive and responsive musical future for all students in school music.
Presented by Mara Culp, Assistant Professor of Music Teachingh and Learning at the Eastman School of Music.
