Cross-disciplinary, developmental research offers educators new ways of conceptualizing academic challenges in the classroom. This presentation provides attendees with a glimpse into the fascinating world of the developing brain in early childhood and reveals how trauma-related mechanisms, some of which can be traced back as far as infancy, can impact learning and social-emotional experiences in school settings. Intervention and prevention strategies will be considered.
Presented by Justin Russotti, Warner doctoral student, and Kathryn Douthit, Professor and Chair of the Counseling and Human Development Program.
