About this Event
Howard Kirschenbaum, at different times in his 50-year career, has been a national or international leader in the fields of grading and evaluation reform, values and character education, humanistic education, and Carl Rogers and the person-centered approach to counseling and psychotherapy. A Professor Emeritus and former Chair of the Department of Counseling and Human Development at the Warner School, Kirschenbaum spent the majority of his career outside formal academia, working as an independent author and consultant and director of the National Humanistic Education Center and Sagamore Institute in the Adirondack Mountains. He recently completed his 25th book: Coming of Age in the Baby Boom: A Memoir of Personal Development, Social Action, Education Reform and Adirondack Preservation.
In this Wednesday lunch talk, Prof. Kirschenbaum will describe his non-traditional career in education, read an excerpt from his memoir, and share some of what he has learned about various genres of academic and popular writing.
