About this Event
Library Rd Rochester, NY 14611
https://www.rochester.edu/uhs/healthpromotion/training/According to research conducted in the past two years exploring compassion fatigue and self-care amongst student support staff and higher education faculty found that both physical and emotional self-care considerably reduced compassion fatigue and burnout while increasing compassion satisfaction (Jackson Preston, Peterson, Sanchez, Carlos, and Reed 2021 & Velez-Crus & Holstun, 2022). In this Compassion Fatigue – Supporting Those Who Support Others workshop, we will explore signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue (or secondary traumatic stress disorder) within the workplace and classroom with faculty, staff, and students. Participants will learn about a variety of positive coping strategies one can use to build emotional and physical resiliency to decrease compassion fatigue, improve overall well-being, and provide faculty and staff with more internal resources and energy to support students.
Open to all faculty and student support staff. More information on locations of workshops and registration available on MyPath by looking up the workshop title. Learn more about and register for the self-paced Well-being for Life and Learning Training Program.
