DESCRIPTION:College is a time of transition – for many students\, it’s
the first time they’re living on their own and taking care of themselves
while being exposed to multiple stressors- this is a particularly vulnera
ble time for students to develop eating disorders. According to the Nation
al Eating Disorders Association\, 32% of female-identifying college studen
ts and 25% of male-identifying college students suffer from an eating diso
rder. According to The Trevor Project\, 54% of transgender youth are diagn
osed with an eating disorder. This introductory 1 hour workshop will highl
ight some of the particular challenges impacting college students with eat
ing disorders\, highlight some misconceptions about eating disorders\, and
share practical strategies to support students. \n\nOpen to all faculty
and student support staff. More information on locations of worksho
ps and registration available on MyPath by looking up the workshop tit
