Faculty are in a unique position to set the tone within the University’s learning environments. By intentionally designing courses with well-being in mind, instructors can demonstrate their commitment to students’ personal and academic success. This session will begin with an overview of the connection between well-being and academic performance. We’ll explore syllabus design through a well-being lens and offer creative ways to increase students’ feelings of social connection, belonging, and purpose to foster a positive classroom culture. Participants will also receive a First Day toolkit, which includes a suite of resources designed to help faculty create an inclusive and supportive learning environment on the first day of classes. This presentation will demonstrate how small changes and simple approaches can make a lasting and meaningful impression on student well-being.

Open to all faculty and student support staff. More information on locations of workshops and registration available on MyPath by looking up the workshop title. Learn more about and register for the self-paced Well-being for Life and Learning Training Program
