A Readers' Theater Performance of Imelda for Health Professionals

This one-hour program will feature a readers' theatre performance of Richard Seltzer's short story about a surgeon's high-stakes choice on a medical mission in Honduras.  It will be followed by an interdisciplinary panel, which will discuss moral questions in medicine, oral surgery and patient care.  This program is brought to you by the National Collaborative on Humanities & Ethics in Dentistry. It will be performed and led by faculty at the Eastman Institute of Oral Health and the Department of Health Humanities and Bioethics at the University of Rochester Medical Center.  

Learning Objectives:
a. Recognize how to incorporate readers' theater as a pedagogical tool into clinical education to enliven and help visualize complex moral decision-making.
b. Describe the intrapersonal implications of moral questions in clinical care.          
c. Describe the professional implications of moral questions in clinical care.
