Facilitated by Wilmot Cancer Institute’s Offices of Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) and Cancer Research Training Education and Coordination (CRTEC)

This fall, COE and CRTEC are excited to host an engaging half-day in-person workshop designed to empower researchers in effectively communicating their science to community members. Participants will gain valuable insights and practical skills for forging meaningful collaborations with the community, ultimately creating high-impact scientific initiatives. Join us for an opportunity to connect science with the community!

During this interactive workshop, participants will:

  • Learn best practices for framing messages based on the audience and build confidence to deliver those messages effectively
  • Develop skills to solicit feedback from individuals and implement suggested changes to their studies. Hear other researchers' examples of how they have done this and how it improved their science!
  • Increase knowledge of available venues to engage the community throughout all stages of the research process.
  • Enhance understanding of the value and impact of community engagement in research.

Who Should Register?

This workshop is designed as an introductory course on community-engaged research, but individuals of all experience levels are welcome. The information presented is tailored to Wilmot researchers and trainees. Scientists from all research programs are encouraged to register. No prior knowledge or experience in community engagement is necessary.

*Registration will be capped at 20 total attendees; priority will be given to Wilmot Faculty and Trainees.
