Workshop: Designing and Supporting Meaningful Writing Tasks

Please join the Writng, Speaking, and Argument Program for a consideration of the Meaningful Writing Project with Neal Lerner, Professor of English, Writing Center Director, and co-Director of the Undergraduate Program in English at Northeastern University.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will consider how to give their writing assignments and teaching/tutoring of writing a "meaningful makeover." Addressing faculty, instructors, and writing tutors, Professor Lerner will share insights from his research on students' meaningful writing and guide participants to consider how these insights might inform their work. The workshop will address the design of syllabi, assignment sequences, assignment prompts, and writing center sessions.
