Blending myth, comedy, and brutality, the play takes Aeschylus’s, The Suppliants, and a myriad of Mee’s own interpolations, borrowed text, and other ideas and brings one of the earliest surviving dramas of the Western World, kicking and screaming, into our own time. Exploring freedom, desire, and the costs of resisting tradition, Big Love will knock your socks off and the bouquet right out of your hand!

Associate Professor of Instruction, Scriptwriting and Film and Media Production Pirooz Kalayeh will interview Schiff about his long career in television and offer advice to students. A reception will follow.

After graduating from the University of Rochester, Mike attended graduate film school at Columbia University’s School of the Arts, where he met his longtime writing partner, Bill Martin. The two launched their television career in 1992 as writers on Fox’s popular sketch series In Living Color, followed by additional sketch series before moving into half‑hour comedy with NBC’s Emmy‑winning 3rd Rock from the Sun, starring John Lithgow. They spent five seasons and 110 episodes on 3rd Rock, serving as showrunners beginning in season three, then went on to create the Fox/WB comedy Grounded for Life, which ran for five seasons. Since then, Mike and Bill have run or written on series ranging from Cavemen to Trial & Error to The Soul Man, and later created CBS’s The Unicorn, starring Walton Goggins. For the last four years, they ran CBS’s The Neighborhood, starring Cedric the Entertainer and Max Greenfield.

She will read from her recent works, answer questions and sign copies of her books, which will be available for purchase.

Lindsay Turner is the author of three collections of poetry, the most recent of which is Middle Slope (forthcoming October 2026, Farrar, Straus and Giroux). Her debut work, Songs and Ballads (2018, Prelude Books) was named one of the Best Poetry Collections of 2018 by the Chicago Tribune, while her collection The Upstate (2023, University of Chicago Press), was named an Outstanding Poetry Book of 2023 by the California Review of Books. Her poetry has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Review of Books, The Yale Review, The Atlantic, Lit Hub and more. She is also a French-to-English translator of poetry, philosophy, and children's books. Turner lives in Cleveland, Ohio, with her husband and son and is Associate Professor of English and creative writing at Case Western Reserve University.

The Plutzik Series is one of the most prestigious and longest-running reading series in the country. Over the years, the Plutzik Series has featured a vast array of poets and fiction writers, the famous and not-yet famous. In keeping with Hyam Plutzik's generosity of spirit and commitment to bringing poetry to the community, the Plutzik Series readings have always been open to the public and offered free of charge.

Kyle John Schmidt's contemporary comedy speaks directly to America's obsession with firearms and the NRA's idea that "guns don't kill people; people kill people." A sharp, prescient, and drop-dead funny (you had to go there, didn't you?!) contemporary comedy!

She will read from her many works, answer questions and sign copies of her books, which will be available for purchase.

Williams is the author of fourteen books, most recently The Pelican Child (2025, Knopf), a book of short stories that was long listed for the National Book Award and a finalist for the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award. Her previous novels include The Quick and the Dead (2000, Knopf), a runner-up for the Pulitzer Prize – and four collections of stories, as well as Ill Nature (2001, Lyons Press), a book of essays that was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Among her many honors are the Rea Award for the Short Story and the Strauss Living Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She lives in Tucson, Arizona, and Laramie, Wyoming.

(Time, Identity, Memory, & the End of History Illusion) by Nigel Maister at Sloan Performing Arts Center

You'll never be as young as you are right now. Or will you? Time, and how we perceive, experience, and engage with it determines how we think about who we are and what we are. If age is "just a number," how old are we? And how do memories shape our sense of self, our futures and our pasts? Basing its text on real interviews conducted with young children, octogenarians, and people on the brink of adulthood, this newly devised theatrical work, T.I.M.E., explores how we see ourselves and examines that. Most slippery and elusive of concepts: age. Developed under the UR International Theatre Program's New Voice Initiative with additional support from the Institute for the Performing Arts Schwartz Fund for the Performing Arts. World premiere!
