The URBEST (Broadening Experiences in Scientific Training) is an NIH-funded experimental training program, which seeks to better prepare graduate students and postdocs for careers outside and within academia. To do this, the program provides instruction in leadership and professionalism, and leads exploration in a variety of training pathways, including industry, regulatory affairs, science policy, communication, teaching, and data science. A small group of trainees are also selected to participate in internship experiences.
